Duo Andersson
Duo Andersson was founded in 2019 by renowned Lithuanian musicians of the young generation – violinist Julija Andersson and pianist Paulius Andersson. Constantly promoting Lithuanian musical scene abroad and regularly collaborating with contemporary composers by commissioning their works, the duo strives to present rarely performed pieces and conceptual programs for the international audiences. Duo Andersson have studied with renowned chamber music pedagogues – Alfred Brendel, Kim Kashkashian, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Paolo Giacometti, Indrė Baikštytė, Audrone Vainiunaite, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Johannes Meissl and others. The duo are winners of numerous international chamber music competitions: recently they have been with the “Premio SUONO GIOVANE 2024” (Florence, Italy), the Grand Prix at the International Masters Competition (2024, Warsaw, Poland), the 2 nd prize at the International Chamber Music Competition “Anton Garcia Abril” (2024, Baza, Spain), 2 nd prize at the International Music Competition “Opus 2024” (2024, Krakow, Poland), 3 rd prize at the International Luigi Nono Chamber Music Competition (2023, Turin, Italy) and Diploma as well as the Audience Prize at the International Stasys Vainiūnas Chamber Music Competition (2022, Vilnius, Lithuania).
Aside from joining the musical forces, Julija and Paulius both regularly perform as soloists with Baltic and European orchestras. Coming from a well-known dynasty of pianists, P. Andersson is the winner of 16 international piano competitions. J. Andersson is a member of the NICO ensemble, with which she has performed at prestigious concert halls – the Weill Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall (New York, USA, 2023), Tonhalle Zurich (Switzerland, 2024), Gewandhaus Leipzig (Germany, 2015) and others.
